Many years of work have brought us visible results – the exterior of Cēsis St. John’s Church has been restored bringing delight to both locals and tourists. But that is only half of it. The interior of the church is still waiting for its turn.
For hundreds of years, Cēsis St. John’s Church has been an integral part of the city of Cēsis, serving as a community center, strengthening the faith of the townspeople, and helping to overcome the hurdles of history. This is an opportunity to preserve our legacy and pass on the cultural and historical heritage of our country to future generations.

The restoration is coordinated by Cēsis St. John’s Church Restoration Foundation. Our goal is not only to preserve and restore a unique cultural monument of national significance — Cēsis St. John’s Church — but also to ensure wide public access to the church and its cultural and historical values, to promote cultural events and tourism in the church, and to spread cultural and spiritual values.
